Christian
art in
France: 1400
to 1650
Saturday
5 November 2011
This study day aims to introduce the
work of a
series of
artists from
Jean Fouquet
and
Enguerrand
Quarton in
the
fifteenth
century to
Georges de
la Tour,
Poussin and
Philippe de
Champaigne
in the
seventeenth.
Balanced
between the
influences
of north and
south, the
Netherlands
and Italy,
artists who
are now less
well known
at a popular
level
produced
striking and
powerful
works of
Christian
art.
Please note the slightly later start and finishing time
for this
study day.
